Hazelmead is the UK’s largest microgrid cohousing project, featuring 53 sustainable, affordable eco-homes designed to foster community living and environmental responsibility. At the heart of Hazelmead is its pioneering community microgrid, installed by CIUS. This innovative system integrates 210 kWp of rooftop solar photovoltaic panels with a 1.6 MWh Tesla battery, enabling the generation, storage, and distribution of renewable energy within the community. The microgrid reduces reliance on the national grid, providing residents with clean, locally produced energy while lowering carbon emissions and bills.
